About Niki
Hi, I’m Niki Techen,
and I am an operational consultant.
I have always been fascinated with business and process optimization, and with finding details that most people miss. I look for nuances, and find further nuances within existing nuances to understand how things truly work. I plan ahead, just in case. I ask HOW, WHY, WHERE. When I’m done, I can explain it in a way that makes sense to YOU, so you can optimize your business.
Seriously, on the planning note, when I was in elementary school, I taught myself to write with my left hand, just in case I lost the use of my right hand.

My background
The story behind the work.
I’m originally from Denmark and moved to Canada in 2008. In Denmark, I worked for a major telecommunications company as the technical product manager for LG’s first IP-based business phone system in Europe. Working alongside the marketing product manager, I helped integrate it into our product portfolio for resale to businesses across Denmark. That required technical oversight, negotiation, and coordination across departments, understanding both the technology and what the organization needed to bring it to market. The role also took me to CeBIT, where I presented to senior LG executives. I was young, it was intimidating, and I absolutely loved the work.
Fast forward, I’m in Canada and I assist realtors across North America with their marketing, primarily through website development, PPC, and SEO. And these were not small companies either; most of them did $10M+ in real estate transactions annually, some over $100M+, and one of them a lot more. My clients loved working with me, and it was great seeing them grow and succeed over the years.
Eventually, I wanted to work for myself, and I started selling on Amazon in 2017. I quickly connected with brands and helped them increase their ecommerce sales and make sense of selling online. A friend poached me to come help him wind his business down, but once I joined, I found that there were missed opportunities throughout the business, so we agreed that I could put my skills to use and instead I doubled company revenue while other companies in similar situations struggled.
Other companies heard what I had done, and over the past few years, they hired me to consult in various operational areas.
I absolutely love digging into the nitty-gritty details of a company’s operations, learning where processes break down, figuring out where a leak comes from, and helping the company improve.
My approach
How I like to work.
Here’s what working with me looks like.
01
I will tell you what I see.
As an external consultant, I bring an independent perspective. I report findings clearly and candidly, without internal politics shaping the conclusions. The focus stays on the facts, their impacts on your business, and on what needs attention.
02
I look closely at the details.
At scale, $0.05 means a lot. I investigate existing processes to understand how things move through the company, so you can know the actual cost. Growing companies often experience operational debt, and I uncover the details, so you can focus on growth.
03
I enjoy conversations at all levels.
With a background in consultative sales, I honed my ability to connect with people and get them to open up. My ability to converse with and understand people at all organizational levels gives me an edge in uncovering details most people miss.
Beyond the work
Life away from the computer.
I work a lot, and I love it, but I’m not always in front of the computer. I have a typical hobby, and a not so typical part of my life. See more below.

Kayak fishing
I have always enjoyed fishing, and while I had a multi-year hiatus after moving to Canada, I eventually purchased a fishing kayak. I love the calmness of a beautiful lake on a Saturday or Sunday very early morning, and you’ll often find me without any technology pedaling (not a spelling error!) the lakes of Vancouver Island.

Wheelchair rugby
My daughter had a stroke at 9, and after the immediate recovery, she was ready for sports again. She got involved with wheelchair rugby and para throws. When daughter is involved, so is dad, and they needed a referee. I am today, officially, a wheelchair rugby referee, and I believe I am one of the top 10 refs on Vancouver Island. Note, there may only be me on the island.
